Eric Seufert

Man, I feel like a woman

Eric Seufert moved to Tartu, Estonia in 2009 to conduct research for a master’s degree — but for some reason, this explanation never seems to adequately answer the question, “Miks sa oled Eestis?”. He grew up in the metropolis swamp of Houston, Texas and has lived in the following cities for varying lengths of time since the year 2005: Austin, Texas; Prague, Czech Republic; London, England; Madison, Wisconsin; and Tartu, Estonia. He now calls Tallinn home — partly because he likes it there, and partly because he can’t afford a plane ticket to anywhere else.

Eric first performed stand-up comedy — very drunkenly — on his 21st birthday, and has intermittently been performing ever since. His favorite memory from performing is the time a local comedy superstar exclaimed, “You were funny tonight!” as he passed him backstage at a club in Austin, Texas. His worst memory from performing is the time he realized that a local comedy superstar had mistaken him for a severely overweight, sexually explicit prop comic from earlier in the night at a club in Austin, Texas. Eric has written for various print and online publications, including the Austinist, Political Derby, and Cracked.com.

Eric was one of the original organizers of the Tartu Comedy Festival and can be seen performing across the Baltics and Scandinavia.

Style Of Comedy

Eric combines brusque cultural observations with the mindset of a teenage who has at once discovered both beer and his dad’s stash of pornographic magazines. Having traveled extensively, he enjoys connecting with audiences over shared experiences, be they on trains, in bars, or, occasionally, on the receiving end of harsh words from a local. He enjoys extrapolating premises to absurd, abstract extremes and often times surprises audiences with an absurd culmination to a joke that seemed at first wholly predictable.
