Comedy Estonia and Kino Sõprus are proud to present the main event each month “Stand Up Comedy with Louis & Stewart”. The show is two huge, A-list International headliners, a cool DJ set and hosting by the best bro-mance since Ernie and Bert on Sesame Street, Louis Zezeran & Stewart Johnson!

This month we have a very special show. 2 months ago American Dave Fulton was supposed to visit us, however on the day of the show he fell ill and for the first time in 25 years, he missed a show. Now to be outdone, Dave is back, coming all the way out here just for this show to make it up to Tallinn!

Supporting Dave is Paul Myrehaug from Canada. He started his career in Alberta and now is an internationally toured comedian with appearances on television, radio, festivals and world-renowned comedy competitions.

As always the Comedy Estonia beer, “Punchline” by Mikkeller is available to wash it all down.

Finally I’m here! Estonia! It’s just as I had imagined it. I almost feel myself getting aroused by the pure thought of this place. It has over 1500 islands; 47 cities; 1 Eurovision trophy and at least 101 people who are well-off. My god, I don’t think I’ve ever been so hot. And by hot I don’t mean warm cause… well, I’m in Estonia. Although it has four seasons on paper they all kind of blend into one soggy son-of-a-bitch so you can never be quite sure where one ends and another begins. Pretty much like Narva and Ivangorod. None of that matters to me though and Estonia still makes me as wet as Edgar Savisaar would have been without Katrin Siska.

As I walk down the street I find myself becoming more and more turned on by all the mean faces staring back at me. Everybody looks at me so hatefully that I start to think maybe they all know that I didn’t really like “Viimne reliikvia”. I try to find at least one Estonian who would look happy. Finally I see this one guy with a bowtie who kind of gives me a smile but as I later discover the guy is originally from America so I guess that doesn’t really count. Seeing all those unhappy faces reminds me that I am yet to check out the unhappiest place in Estonia so I make it my next destination.

As I arrive to Tallinn all I can hear in my head is Drew Carey’s voice saying: “Hey everybody and welcome to “Whose town is it anyway?” The place where street lightning is made up and the Estonians don’t matter. That’s right! The Estonians in this town and like “best before” dates in Maxima. They’re just not important enough!” As I feel my knees weakening at the sight of this magical place, I decide to take a bus instead of walking. I jump on the first mean green machine I see and take a seat. The bus takes off and I find myself getting hot under the collar. The bus starts off slowly but gathers speed quite abruptly and soon it’s going way over 50 km/h. Oh, that bus driver seems to be a real badass with his sexy Russian accent and a sweater-vest. I feel myself trembling with excitement. The bus bumps through a pothole and then another one. My palms are getting sweaty. I close my eyes and all I can hear is “Beep. Beep. Beep” as people register their “green cards”. The steady rhythm of the bus passes through my whole body and the pothole bumps are getting closer and closer together. The sensation is getting more and more intense as finally the bus comes to a sudden stop. I let out a little moan as I am pushed out the doors by a herd of pesky pensioners. Now it’s official – I’m never leaving this magical land ever again. I need my fifty shades of Estonia!

This partnership is all thanks to Estonia’s best beer importer and cookbook author James Ramsden from Beer For Punks, this was his idea and we are indebted to him for making it happen.

This month we are proud to present Dave Fulton from America, the road warrior comic who presents topical and dark humor like few Americans can. His comedy takes risks and is deadly smart.

Opening the show is the amazing Ismo Leikola from Finland. This guy is the Mitch Hedberg of Suomi, short hilarious lines which make you think “why didn’t I think of that”. The man that proves the Finns do know how to be very very funny.

- All stories must be in English (some entertaining variations in grammar will be accepted) and a MAXIMUM of 500 words.
- The deadline for entry is Sunday 14th April.
- You may provide bribes to the judges but these are in no way guaranteed to get you anywhere
- And the winning story, along with some for the best entries, will be featured on Slothrop’s website as well possibly some other places with the authors permission.

The judges will be from Comedy Estonia and Slothrop’s. So, good luck!

‘Believe’ chronicles comedian Eddie Izzard’s rise to fame from his early influences – losing his mother to cancer at a young age before being sent with his brother to boarding school to his close present day relationship with his supportive father.

At school, when he saw what getting into the Cambridge Footlights Revue could do for your career his goal became to follow Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry and Emma Thompson and try for a place at the University. When that didn’t work out he headed to the Edinburgh Festival, equipped with nothing but a unicycle and some banter, eventually figuring out how to draw a crowd. He’s been working
hard at it ever since.

‘Believe’ is the mantra of Eddie Izzard: if you want to be a singer, you’ve got to believe you can sing, if you want to be a comedian you’ve got to believe you can be funny. Eddie believes in Eddie and it was this rock solid self-belief that allowed him to perform onstage as a transvestite when it was considered career suicide. When his highly successful West End show, Dress To Kill won critical acclaim he had only himself to thank for booking the theatre.

Director Sarah Townsend skillfully combines home video, stills and archival footage in this intimate and edgy portrait of the performer.

Benny Boot (AUS)

Australian comic Benny Boot has been performing comedy in the UK for 9 years. He is considered by many comedians as a wonderful comedian to watch. Benny was a finalist in NBC’s Last Comic Standing and was invited to the Vancouver Comedy Festival in 2005. He has performed in Edinburgh as part of the Just The Tonic Showcase (2006), for the Pleasance Comedy Reserve (2007) and debuted his first solo show last year, Set Up, Punchline…Pause for Laughter (2011). Benny returned to the Fringe with his second solo show Def-Con 4 (2012). The show sold out throughout the Fringe, and Boot put on extra shows to satisfy demand. The show received a great response from his audience and critics.

Boot delivers his jokes in a unique style on variety of strange topics. His engaging persona & material keeps the laughter rolling through the entire show and is guaranteed to bring any audience undone. Benny is considered in the industry to be one of the most original and finest joke writers in the business. He stormed the Altitude Comedy Festival this March and was the one comedian, out of a line up of top acts such as Tim Minchin, Jimmy Carr and Frankie Boyle that everyone – audience, critics and comics – was talking about.

We have two special guests this month, Brian Mørk from Denmark and Joe Eagan from Canada.

Brian is one of the most well known comedians in Denmark from his time hosting his own programme “The Brian Mørk Show”. Brian has a dark, sharp, witty sense of humor which is perfect for Estonians.

Joe Eagan, the legend, is no stranger to Tartu, he was our special guest at our very first show and became the king of Möku. Since then Joe has extended his infamy, starting comedy clubs all over Europe. Joe is also the patron saint of the Võru McDonalds.

Belgiums ‘no holds barred’ comedian. If you like your comedy a bit rough around the edges ,you’re gonna love this guy. Nigels act is full of energy and healthy misanthropic rants, lots of improvisation and audience participation guaranteed. ‘Like a long distance sprint of laughs with no final destination’.

He was born in Bristol UK and left school at 15, worked as factory worker/ union organiser and barkeeper before taking up stand-up comedy. His first show was called ‘The Penis Monologue’ most recent show is called ‘Believe me!!’ (about religion and other fables). Nigel has won the prestigious Belgian Humos Comedy Cup in 2000 and since then has twice been voted Comedian of the year.

He has performed in Holland, England, Scotland more recently Denmark and Sweden and is best known in Belgium for the political and social content of his humor.

Christian Schulte-Loh (GER)

Christian Schulte-Loh is an international stand-up act from Germany that has performed in clubs and at festivals in more than a dozen countries.

Christian regularly performs at the biggest clubs in the UK, Germany and on the European circuit. He has been called “a funny German – the only one!” (KKUNST MAGAZINE, Belgium), and THE SPECTATOR wrote about him: “one of the most subversive acts ever”.

Christian performs in three languages: English, German and Spanish. He has toured the world, won several awards (including “King Gong” at London’s Comedy Store) and regularly appears at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Dave Thompson (UK)

Dave works continuously as a stand-up comedian, and has performed in America, The Falklands, Dubai, Oman, Abu Dhabi, and cruise ships in the Mediterranean and Caribbean. Never happier than when he’s being paid to explore new places, Dave has also worked in Ireland, France, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, The Czech Republic, Slovakia, Sweden, Poland, Luxembourg, Austria, and Monte Carlo. Known for his one-liners and absurd persona, Dave has written material for many other comics, including Harry Hill, Ronnie Corbett, Bruce Forsyth, Jim Tavare, Ben Elton, and Stewart Lee.

Dave wore a Jim Henson lion costume in two films made in Hollywood for American TV. He was in eight episodes of Al Murray’s sitcom ‘Time Gentlemen Please’, and one episode of Ben Elton’s sitcom ‘Blessed’. Despite appearing in many other TV shows such as ‘Never Mind The Buzzcocks’, and featuring in eleven TV commercials, Dave is best known as the person inside the Tinky Winky costume in ‘Teletubbies’, which is still shown all over the world.

Adam Fields

Amsterdam based British comedian Adam Fields is an international funny man who has charmed audiences in numerous countries from Norway to South Africa, and from Britain to Indonesia. A lively and visual headline comic with well crafted routines that range from the political to the plain stupid. His style is a mix of sophisticated English and neurotic Jew, with a dash of ‘Crazy Dutch’.

Adam has been a professional stand-up since 1998 and is one of the top comedians in the Dutch circuit. He is part of the Comedy Explosion group and a regular headliner at Amsterdam’s Comedy Theatre.

Adam has coached many upcoming comics participating in Holland’s biggest stand-up contest ‘The Culture Comedy Award’. He also performs stand-up in Dutch, a party piece for which he has received critical acclaim.

In 2010 Adam had a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with his show ‘n-EURO-sis’.
